The dictionary definitions for "HOUSE" and "HOME" are very similar. But for me there's quite a difference. The "HOUSE" is the physical structure, the walls, roof, foundation, windows, etc. But a "HOME" is what your family creates within those walls, it's the setting for your life, the backdrop for the creation of your memories, it's the place where you can let go of the stress of your busy life, where friends and family can gather to celebrate the good turns in your life, and to support you when your road is a bit bumpy.
There's much housing news in the media today, and because bad news sells, much of the news is bad. Foreclosures, Short Sales, Falling Prices, Bubbles... you've heard all of that. But with so many 'bad news' stories it can depend a lot on how you look at it.
Certainly the economy is struggling in many sectors, but the good news for a home buyer is that prices are very low and interest rates are at record lows. These two factors combine to make a buying opportunity that I've not seen in 21+ years as a fulltime Realtor in Grand Rapids Michigan.
